Another One Word - Alarm

Another One Word exercise:

Bells ringing in my head and setting of the scary sounds of the world closing in on me. It’s faster and faster and I have no where to go, no way to escape, life just keeps crowding me, demanding my attention and soon the sound drowns out all but it’s droning and terrible noise so I hear nothing else at all.

I was alarmed to see this word Alarm, especially with a capital A.

Why did you choose Alarm? Was it an early morning thought? Or did you just remember something that the very act of remembering it alarmed you?

Okay, enough about you. What about me?

Alarm is an intriguing word to me because at the same time it means something wide-eyed and yet something tranquil.

I’m thinking “wide-eyed” as in shocked surprise, and “tranquil” as in alarm clock — which for me means morning, which in turn is a soothing and relaxing time for me.

It’s also a nostalgic word for me:

I think Alarm bell and I remember the fire alarm bell going off in my old school for a fire-drill, and the fun of walking outside the school with friends and seeing the teachers out of their element.

Wow, that was good, Saphyre! Thanks.

    Hi Saphyre, hi flic
Saphyre, everyone has those feelings of self-doubt, will I get the job, what will I do when I get the job, and what if I’m disappointed (again). Will I meet some one nice this evening, will they treat me nice, and shouldI let myself fall in love, only to be disappointed (again).
Everyone dreams or toys with the idea of winning the lottery and what they would do with the money, but they don’t jump out the window when they see they haven’t won, they just buy another ticket for next week’s draw.
Of course life is easier, if you are already engaged in work, you don’t have to worry about income, but there are still a thousand and one doubts or decisions to be made in everyone’s mind. Whether to go on holiday, or where & when. Whether to buy a new sofa, where & when. Whether to move house, change jobs/career, find new hobbie/interest
    And on, and on, …
So you take it easy, in your own time. one step at a time, but as I said if you are over this way, you can lean on me.

PS - Someone said the other day: “Meditate? evertone knows how to meditate. Instead of meditating what to worry about, meditate on what not to worry about” So take care. Q
